Head Coach Job Description
Qualifications:
- Participation at high school or college level in sport
- Training in coaching techniques (A.S.E.P. Certification).
- Experience working with youth-centered
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reports to: Athletic Director and Principal.
As Head Coach your duties include but are not restricted to:
- Enforce the Athletic Policies of AHHS in your sport with the direct supervision of the Athletic Director.
- Be responsible for all equipment and uniforms issue collect
- Be present at all practices and Exceptions for an emergency must be cleared through the Athletic Director.
- Be responsible for knowing and teaching your players all rules governing their
- Be familiar with policies and be sure team members are also familiar with and adhere to these rules.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that represents AHHS in a positive way and demand the same conduct from your coaches and players.
- Always display and demand good sportsmanship (Staff Fans & Players).
- Treat your players parents fans officials and fellow coaches with
- Inform the Athletic Director of any discipline problems and injuries Fill out accident form for all injuries. Keep communications open between yourself your team coaching staff and the A.D.
- Be consistent in enforcing any rules that you have made for your
- Be on time for all trips and remain at school until all players have left after away
- Be familiar with and enforce all bus rules!!
- Inform D. in advance of any change of plans practice schedules bus departures team rules etc.
- It is your job as Head Varsity Coach to maintain communication with your assistant coaches at the FS level as well as communicating with the middle school coaching staff an overall direction you would like the whole program to follow.
- Promote your sport!! And all sports at It is your responsibility to call inALL scores to the local media. Use the daily announcements too.
- Review all IHSA rules meetings that are now held
- Attend seeding meetings for tournaments and get all paperwork entered
- Promptly fill out any forms provided by AHHS IHSA or the Conference pertaining to your sport.
- Attend all pre-season meetings and post-season meetings required by the conference. (All Conference Selections)
- Present and collect all student-parent agreements to your
- Be sure all players have a contest and practice schedule make players aware of any changes.
- Turn in all completed inventory at the end of the season after all equipment has been collected.
- Turn in a requisition for equipment needed for the next
- Turn in the names of all letter winners and special awards to the D. immediately at the end of the season.
- Attend award program introduce assistant coaches and present
- Communicate with the D. in regards to the following years schedule. The head coach may advise suggest and request particular contests but the final decision rests with the A.D.
- Always have a medical kit and ice available at all practices and Have a phone with when outside in case of an emergency.
- Be sure locker rooms are left neat at all home and away practices and
- Develop and distribute a copy of rules and policies pertaining to your sport at the pre-season meeting. Clear this with the D. before handing out.
- Keep attendance records and statistics for all team
- Make every effort to use all legal contact days during the off-season to prepare your team for the upcoming season.
- Support and try to attend as many AHHS Booster Club meetings as
- Head Coaches can request to have a fundraiser for there Activity Acct: and must follow Dist. 19 fundraising policy.
- Only Head Coaches can purchase supplies or request funds through their respective activity accounts with permission from the Athletic Director and
- As Head Coach you report directly to the Athletic Director with any issues that pertain to your sport or the athletic department.
