Qualifications:
College hours high school diploma or GED (preferred)
Professional certification in vehicle repair; ASE certification (preferred)
Formal training in vehicle repair (preferred)
Certificate for Vehicle Inspections (preferred)
Five years mechanical experience in vehicle repair and/or other related experience
Able to understand and execute verbal and written orders and to work productively without continual supervision
Have or be able to obtain a valid commercial drivers license
Proficient in the use of personal computer
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Good communication skills
Tools of the trade to be provided by the M&O department
Primary Purpose:
Make mechanical repairs to the districts fleet while providing support in the daily requirements of the Maintenance & Operations department.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Equipment Used:
Computer meters gages specialty test equipment ladders hoists hand and power tools light truck or van and other department vehicles.
Working Conditions:
Moderate walking standing climbing heavy lifting carrying stooping bending kneeling and reaching. Work outside and inside around moving objects vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Exposed to dampness and humidity toxic chemicals exhaust fumes gasoline and diesel fuel.
