Job Description

The Department of Humanities at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi invites applications for an Associate Professor of Environmental History beginning August 2025. We prefer applications from scholars with additional sub specializations in Post War United States the South and Popular Culture. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their scholarship teaching and/or service that they can contribute to all students succeeding academically regardless of their backgrounds particularly those from historically underserved communities

As a part of a 3/3 teaching load candidates must be able to teach either the US or world history survey courses along with upper-level undergraduate courses in their area of specialization. Candidates will also have the opportunity to offer graduate courses and mentor students in the departments History MA program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree in History or related field.

  • Ability to teach courses in environmental history as well as US or world history surveys.

  • Five (5) years of full-time university faculty experience including at least four (4) years in the rank of assistant professor. Related professional experience may substitute in rare cases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching and service including the ability to work with underrepresented and/or first-generation students.

  • A record of research excellence and teaching.

  • Experience as a program coordinator or in another similar administrative service position.
