The Department of Pharmacology and Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina invites applications for a part-time (.5 FTE) faculty position. The academic appointment will be at the Assistant Professor level in the tenure track series and will be accompanied by an anticipated commitment to the Ralph H. Johnson VA.

Job Description

The successful candidate will complement the diverse research portfolio of our newly merged department which includes T cell biology and adoptive cellular therapy neuroimmunology autoimmunity infectious disease redox metabolism glycoproteomics and multimodal spatial omics. Candidates conducting cutting-edge research in any aspect of cancer pharmacology or immunology are especially encouraged to apply and current strengths in this area include T cell biology and metabolism tumor microenvironment target discovery biomarkers therapy and the use of immune cells as a vehicle for therapy. Ideal applicants will be creative and collaborative scientists and will be expected to establish and maintain a rigorous extramurally funded research program as well as to participate in our strong graduate training programs. The scientific environment within the College of Medicine and in the Department is highly interactive and productive with strong ties on campus to other Basic Science and Clinical Departments as well as Research Centers and Institutes. Outstanding core facilities are available on campus ( including a state-of-the-art Mass Spectrometry Facility within the department that specializes in the analysis of post-translational modifications of proteins.

MUSC is in the beautiful historic city of Charleston (ranked #1 travel destination in the U.S.) bounded by the Atlantic Ocean and beautiful beaches to the east and south and national forests and wildlife refuges to the north and west. MUSC is the states top-ranked medical center.

Preferred Experience & Additional Skills: All applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. as well as postdoctoral research experience with a strong record of research accomplishments and publications. Academic credentials and existing extramural grant support will determine faculty rank. Highly competitive start-up packages are available including ample laboratory space.
