Job Description
FLSA Status:
As an assistant to the high school Band Director the Brass technician coordinates the preparations exercises and activities of the school marching bands brass performers. The instructor prepares and directs the unit for independent performance and competitionand for performances integrated within the larger marching band.
- Attend all rehearsals band camps and performances actively participating in assisting students in sectional and whole group rehearsals.
- Instruct basic to advanced woodwind exercises and fundamentals.
- Organize and lead rehearsals and sectionals.
- Develop and implement the visual design of the program.
- Instruct the Brass technique.
- Show design collaboration with drill writers and unit staff.
- Repair and maintain equipment.
- Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the Athletic Director Band Director Percussion Caption Head Band staff Band members School Administration Booster Organization and Custodial Staff.
- Recommend new equipment purchases within the budget allocations for Band Director approval.
- Consultant to booster Director and parents in areas of percussion studies within the marching arts programs.

- High School Diploma or GED; higher education degree preferred.
- Experience in the marching arts including DCI WGI and or high school and college marching arts is required.
- Experience in current marching arts technology including sound reinforcement systems MIDI sound design microphones and live audio engineering is required.
- Experience as a battery or front ensemble tech is required.
- Experience in the various sub-groups of the unit required.
- Experience in composing and choreographing routines for the various units required.
- Experience working with school-aged students is required; preferably at the high school level.
- Experience with drill writing software is preferred.
