Job Description

Job Summary:

Vance County High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Junior Varsity (JV) Cheerleading Coach to lead and develop our student-athletes in cheerleading. The coach will be responsible for organizing practices teaching cheer routines fostering teamwork and promoting school spirit while ensuring the safety and well-being of the cheer team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead structured practices focusing on cheer techniques stunts and routines.
  • Develop a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship discipline and school spirit.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all athletes during practices games and events.
  • Work closely with the Varsity Cheer Coach to align program goals and routines.
  • Coordinate team participation at athletic events pep rallies and school functions.
  • Teach proper cheerleading techniques including jumps stunts and choreography while enforcing safety guidelines.
  • Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes in compliance with school and state regulations.
  • Maintain effective communication with athletes parents administration and the athletic department.
  • Organize fundraising community service projects and team-building activities as needed.
  • Ensure all cheerleaders adhere to the schools code of conduct attendance policies and athletic requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Prior cheerleading coaching experience preferred (high school or middle school level).
  • Strong knowledge of cheerleading techniques safety protocols and competition preparation.
  • Ability to inspire motivate and develop student-athletes both athletically and academically.
  • Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all district coaching requirements.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in choreographing routines and competition preparation.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) regulations.
  • Previous experience working with high school students in an athletic or extracurricular setting.
