We are looking for a dedicated EMT-P/Patient Access Representative like you to join our Lubbock Heart team.
What You Will do in this Role:
- Provide clinical and administrative support for providers patients and Emergency Department operations.
- Obtain patient vital signs triage and prioritize patient care.
- Routinely perform venipunctures and intravenous insertions.
- Perform and interpret ECG rhythm strips and 12-lead ECGs.
- Perform Point of Care testing and allowable skills under direct physician supervision in accordance with written policies and procedures.
- Be an integral part of the patient care team and assist with patient care within scope of practice.
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies maintain instruments and prepare sterilization tools and equipment as required.
- Practice common safety hazards and precautions.
- Help patients in distress by responding to emergencies.
- Establish effective rapport with clients families other employees and physicians.
- Maintain operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Maintain safe secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintain patient confidence and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential.
- Update job knowledge by participating in continuing education requirements and opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Enhance health care practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Assist patients with complaints and takes an active role in service recovery when needed.
- Assist RN with a focus on efficiency metrics to improve ER flow and throughput (Arrival to Bed Arrival to Medication Administration Disposition to Discharge Length of Stay etc).
- Registration and admitting (admits discharges and transfers) of patients into the Health Information Systems (HIS) including direct registration/admits and pre-registration/pre-admits. Ensure bed board control is in conjunction with nursing management and floor nurses.
- Register/admit all patients who enter the Emergency Room.
- Verify insurance for each patient and then input information into HIS appropriately.
- For all registrations obtain signatures for all appropriate forms such as Consent for Treatment Standard Authorization Financial Agreement and Assignment of Benefits Notice of Privacy Practices and Advance Directive.
- Facilitate and handle all referrals for scheduled admits and for day procedures to include updating the schedule and notify all appropriate departments.
- Handle phone calls according to priority. Handle in a very timely and professional manner.
- Forward all non-covered insurance patients to the attention of Director of Revenue Cycle Operations.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
- 1-2 years of experience
- Current State of Texas Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certification
- Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Certification
- Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification
Your Shift: PRN Days
Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital specializes in the care of cardiac orthopedic nephrology urology and general medical patients. We are also a highly active inpatient center mainly centered on surgical procedures that include cardiothoracic orthopedic urology and general surgery. We have a 24-hour Emergency Department with 5 fully equipped ED rooms 4 fully operating OR rooms 4 cardiac catherization labs with 1 electrophysiology room 11-day surgery rooms 58 acute care beds spread over three units and 16 cardiac critical care rooms. We pride ourselves on giving the best overall care possible to our patients and on our family style atmosphere that includes everyone: patients and their families physicians and our employees.
