Job Description

Hours: Full-Time 35 Hours

The NYC Department of Design and Construction Division of Infrastructure is currently seeking a Deputy Director for the Design Unit Section 4 - Consultant Design Group 2.

The successful candidate will oversee and evaluate the work of 3 - 4 Engineers-In-Charge and their teams (comprising roughly 18 engineers and technicians); resolve issues promptly during the project construction phase; and guarantee project completion within the set timeframe budget constraints and IFA rate limits. The ideal candidate will formulate standard construction terminology; update and maintain standard specifications for roadway sewer and water main construction; and keep standard drawings current.
Moreover the Deputy Director will act as the representative of the Design Unit in meetings with utility companies and city state and federal agencies; oversee the consultant design process and train staff in executing the Design Units responsibilities; participate in the recruitment efforts of the agency; and support the Assistant Commissioner and Director with the Design groups objectives as required.

ADM ENGINEER (NON MGRL) - 1001A


Qualifications :

1. A valid New York State License as a Professional Engineer.

2. Six (6) years of full-time satisfactory experience in chemical engineering civil engineering electrical engineering environmental engineering mechanical engineering or plan examining work at least two (2) years of which must have been in an executive managerial or administrative capacity.
