Job Description

Data Architect NV1 Clearance ACT-Based

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design deployment and governance of enterprise-grade data architecture within a federal government environment. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in cloud-based data platforms data modelling integration and governance while driving performance security and scalability. This role plays a critical part in enabling secure accessible and efficient data solutions that support strategic and operational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain enterprise data architecture including conceptual and logical data models data flow diagrams and integration frameworks.
  • Ensure data systems meet requirements for performance scalability resilience and security.
  • Translate business and stakeholder requirements into technical data architecture specifications.
  • Collaborate with ICT teams platform engineers and business stakeholders to ensure architectural alignment across systems.
  • Lead the integration of structured and unstructured data from multiple sources into enterprise data platforms such as data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Enforce data governance quality and compliance standards ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement data protection strategies to safeguard sensitive and classified information.
  • Continuously monitor assess and optimise data architecture performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and incorporate best practices into existing and new solutions.
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation architecture diagrams and version-controlled design artefacts.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in data architecture roles within complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated application of best-practice data management methods data modelling and data integration techniques.
  • Expertise in building and maintaining data warehouse data lake and big data solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. Azure AWS GCP).
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional teams and guiding architectural decisions.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documentation using standard templates and version control tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to anticipate issues and recommend solutions.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field.
  • Understanding of Commonwealth ICT and resource management frameworks particularly in relation to data storage and warehousing within government.
  • Certifications or formal training in Data Management Data Governance or Cloud Architecture.
