Job Description

Commissionaires BC is seeking dedicated and experienced Security Shift Supervisors to join our team at a Surrey detention centre location. In this key role you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and performance of enhanced guards across various detention centre locations. Your leadership and experience will be crucial in ensuring the effective operation of security services maintaining a safe and secure environment and collaborating closely with client staff to meet operational goals.

For clearance requirements all successful applicants must hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.

Schedule: Full time 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts
Pay rate: $33.24/hr

Job responsibilities:
  • Assign and supervise enhanced guards at various posts and locations.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of incident reports with analysis and recommendations.
  • Conduct shift briefings debriefings and ensure guards are up-to-date on procedures and instructions.
  • Oversee accurate completion of required forms reports and paperwork in accordance with site procedures.
  • Coordinate and dispatch radio communications for fleet vehicles and ensure safety measures are followed.
  • Provide training performance feedback and support to enhanced guards addressing any deficiencies.
  • Manage and report on emergency situations performing quality control checks on tasks and resources.
  • Monitor and coordinate guard breaks meal times and movements across various locations.
  • Ensure equipment including fleet vehicles is properly maintained and report any issues as required.
  • Collaborate with client staff and Operational Managers reporting significant incidents and suggesting process improvements.
Must haves:
  • BC Security Licence
  • Basic First Aid (OFA1) Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Advanced Security Training or willingness to obtain
  • BC Class 5 Drivers Licence and clean drivers abstract
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident having lived in Canada for the last 5 or more years
  • At least 1 years security leadership experience preferably in a similar setting
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment whilst supporting and leading a team
  • Ability to undertake and pass additional training as per site requirements
  • Flexible availability would be an asset
