There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races. Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One
Develops and maintains critical elements of the Fire / Life Safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe environment at all Precinct One facilities. Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures apparatus and control equipment at various Precinct One facilities.
Essential Duties
Coordinates and monitors Fire and Life Safety program elements in compliance with Federal State and Local regulations
Manages the Precinct One fire drill process including development of scenarios scheduling and implementation of drills to include proper documentation of the exercises. Monitors and reports compliance to operational leaders
Conducts all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and Complies with all applicable laws regulations policies and procedures supporting the organizations corporate integrity efforts by acting in an ethical and appropriate manner reporting known or suspected violation of applicable rules and cooperating fully with all organizational investigations and proceedings.
Regularly inspect facilities and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulation.
Stay up-to-date on relevant safety regulations and ensure the facility or workplace complies with them.
Interact with contractors vendors and other stakeholders to ensure safety protocols are followed.
Ensure safe and proper installation of lighting and other electrically operated devices
Use hand tools and power tools to set up wiring and systems. Utilize ohmmeters voltmeters and ammeters for testing purposes. Install and connect wires to circuit breakers transformers outlets and fixtures.
Inspect and test components of electrical systems including transformers transfer switches and switch gears. Maintain generators.
Other duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Three (3) years experience in the electrical trade.
One (1) year experience in fire prevention and life safety management.
Licensure/Certification:
Valid Texas State Drivers License
Journeyman license
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
Skilled at the maintenance and repair of current electrical systems and equipment
Ability to operate aerial equipment
Must have expert knowledge of typical building life safety systems such as fire alarm fire sprinkler specialty detection and suppression systems
Must be able to demonstrate project management skills.
Must be proficient with typical office equipment such as printers scanners and fax machines.
Must be proficient with typical office computer applications such as Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint or equivalent.
Licensure:
Commercial Drivers License (State of Texas) (preferred)
