Project Support Specialist
Location- Atlanta GA
Contract- 3 years
Overview: The Project Support Specialist is responsible for supporting capital construction projects at Southern Company Gas from project initiation through financial closeout. The role ensures timely and accurate project tracking system coordination invoice processing and asset management. Ideal candidates have 05 years of experience in project coordination finance or construction processes and are detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Documentation:
Maintain and coordinate project documentation including schedules minutes and progress reports.
Initiate and maintain projects in the SCG Work Management System (WMS) Oracle Cloud and ARM.
Track action items deadlines and work requests to ensure timely execution.
Coordinate internal and external meetings with stakeholders and contractors.
Financial Transaction Support:
Validate financial transaction data and ensure accounting codes are accurate.
Assist with project budgeting expense tracking and financial compliance.
Perform invoice processing investigate payment delays and resolve invoice issues using aging reports.
Submit invoice accruals to Plant Accounting and support audit requests with necessary documentation.
Asset Management & System Coordination:
Monitor construction/retirement work in progress (CWIP/RWIP) reports.
Use project data to create and retire assets within the correct month of service.
Allocate costs using Power Plan and Oracle Cloud systems with knowledge of POET coding.
Maintain and validate spot contracts ensuring accurate unit pricing and quantities.
Communication & Liaison Duties:
Serve as liaison between SCG and pipeline contractors to ensure proper data flow and invoicing.
Communicate project and system updates effectively to project teams.
Provide guidance on WMS Power Plan and Oracle Cloud use and best practices.
Quality Assurance & Risk Management:
Identify and resolve project and system-related issues.
Conduct quality checks to ensure data accuracy and policy compliance.
Assist in risk identification and recommend mitigation strategies in coordination with project managers.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Business Administration Finance Accounting or a related field OR High School Diploma/GED with relevant experience.
05 years of experience in project coordination finance construction operations or a related field.
Familiarity with Oracle Cloud WMS Power Plan preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint).
