Medical Clerk and Community Host

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Thisposition is a combination of Medical Clerk and Community Host positionsthat create an organized efficient and welcoming environment for both clientsand visitors. Therole involves assisting the Nurse Practitioner ensuringthe clients needs are prioritized with all individuals treated with dignityand respect. They direct inquiries and provide clinical support and administrativesupport to the agency and while working within a team to ensure that theorganization operates smoothly with excellent client service and communityengagement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medical Clerk
- Respond to client needs both in-person and viatelephone
- Schedule and follow upon client appointments
- Assist with clinical procedures/exams based on directionfrom Nurse Practitioner or other clinical staff
- Maintain client serviceareas and equipment ensuring cleanliness and infection control measures arefollowed (e.g. cleaning and resetting equipment/furniture after each clientvisit).
- Provide competentservices to clients in accordance with required standards legal requirementsand organizational policies.
- Maintain accurate andup-to-date filing systems for confidential information including clientrecord
- Complete record keepingand record management responsibilities
- Weekly monitoring andrestocking of clinic supplies
Community Host
- Operatesa central switchboard; answers screens and directs incoming telephone calls
- Respondsto inquiries acts on requests or refers to clients and visitors to theappropriate staff
- Providesinformation to staff and visitors regarding the various programs and servicesoffered
- Monitorsand distributes faxes and ensure fax machines and photocopiers in the officeare operating effectively and that supplies are ordered. Places service callswhen required
- Produces photo IDs for staff and maintains thedatabase
- Assist programs with new employee set up
- Schedulescoordinates and sets up meetings conferences and special events as requested
- Providesadministrative support for special projects as requested
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education
- Graduate from a recognized medical assistant training program such as Clinic Office Assistance Health Care Aide and/or Medical Records Technician.
- Completion of PHIA training.
Skills Expertise and Experience
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position; including the ability to accompany and physically support clients around the clinic.
- Demonstrated ability to be empathetic and compassionate.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Experience and training in recording vital signs and assisting practitioners in medical examinations
- Experience working in electronic medical records and EMR such as Accuro is considered an asset
- Experience working in social services and knowledge of community services is considered an asset
- Ability to use office equipment such as printer photocopier fax and computer etc.
Other Essential Requirements
- Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search clear Child Abuse Registry Check with acceptable Prior Contact Check outcomes and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check
- Ability to perform independently take initiative and as a member of the team.
WORK LOCATION: Winnipeg
WORK HOURS: 35 hours per week. Shift varies depending on clinic hours.
HOURLY WAGE: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour - Depending on qualifications. The Link offers a benefit package and on-site parking.
