Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Job Description

Position Summary
The District-Wide Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides behavior intervention and instructional support services across multiple schools within the district. Working under the districts Special Education leadership the RBT assists in implementing behavior support plans and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to support students with autism spectrum disorder emotional/behavioral disabilities and other developmental or behavioral needs. The RBT collaborates with educators related service providers and families to promote student engagement positive behavior and academic success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide district-wide support by implementing individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
- Travel between assigned schools and work in various classroom settings (general education and special education).
- Collect and record detailed data on student behaviors skill acquisition and progress toward goals.
- Support students using ABA-based strategies to reduce challenging behavior and promote replacement skills.
- Assist in conducting preference assessments skills assessments and functional behavior assessments (FBA).
Deliver direct behavioral support services to students in 1:1 or small group formats. - Model appropriate behavior support strategies and guide school staff.
- Participate in team meetings staff training and professional development sessions.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with educators administrators and families.
- Maintain the confidentiality of student records and adhere to ethical and professional guidelines outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and district policies.
- Any other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Current RBT certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) (required).
- At least one year of experience working with children or students with disabilities in educational or therapeutic settings (preferred).
- Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and data collection methods.
- Ability to travel to different school sites throughout the district.
- Strong communication collaboration and time management skills.
- Ability to lift move or restrain students as necessary for safety or behavior intervention.

- Be capable of physically assisting students with disabilities as required (positioning lifting transferring restraining etc.)
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and cooperatively under the direction of others
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students
- Communicate effectively with teachers therapists and other district personnel to meet the needs of the students and communicate pertinent information as appropriate
- Model conversation manners engagement listening and everyday interactions to demonstrate appropriate social behavior in a culturally sensitive manner

- Attend staff and team meetings
- Be proactive in matters relating to health and safety

- School-based environments across elementary middle and/or high school campuses.
- May involve physical activity including standing walking and lifting.
- May require crisis intervention and de-escalation procedures (CPI or similar training provided).
