SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Summer Camp Junior Counselors job is to support the camp leader by assisting with daily activities camper supervision and program planning while ensuring the safety and well-being of all campers. This position involves direct interaction with campers ensuring their comfort and assisting with activities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the camp leader in overseeing campers ensuring their safety and well-being during all activities.
- Assist in facilitating camp activities.
- Provide personal care for campers as needed such as helping with meals or snacks.
- Communicate with campers and other staff members to ensure clear communication and cooperation.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures and assist in emergencies as needed.
- Clean up and organize camp facilities and supplies after activities.
- Performs other support duties as needed for their assigned camps.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 14 years old by the start of the camp.
- Must have completed 8th grade or higher.
- If current student in good academic and behavioral standing.
- Experience working with younger children (babysitting tutoring or mentoring) is a plus but not required.
- If under 18 parental/guardian permission.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during camp activities.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds (e.g. supplies games equipment).
- Physically able to participate in and supervise activities.
- Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (heat sun light rain).
- Able to respond quickly to emergency situations as needed.
- Sufficient visionand hearing to safely monitor and interact with children
