Maintenance Specialist II, Roofing (260 Days)

SUMMARY: Under general supervision install inspect estimate material and labor requirements repair various types of roofing systems in order to maintain an environment conducive to education inside of school buildings.

• Construct install and repair various roof systems with appropriate materials and related items necessary for the position.
• Estimate and procure the proper materials and supplies for completion of work request.
• Maintain accurate records for labor materials work orders mileage sheets and other maintenance records required.
• Identify and resolve various maintenance repair problems related to the roofing craft.
• Follow District safety guidelines using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as needed for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned always.
• Maintain assigned tools equipment vehicles and supplies in a clean organized fashion.
• Inspect various roofing systems for damages leaks and needed maintenance as well as recommend/justify proper repair and or replacement as necessary.
• Report observed maintenance issues that need to be addressed by other divisions of the maintenance department.
• Assist in obtaining materials and tools for the job using proper Dallas ISD purchasing procedures.
• Communicate effectively with principals department heads District staff and all other personnel in scheduling various maintenance repairs.
• Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency call outs be placed on an emergency call out rotation and flex work hours to accommodate job completion.
• Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

• High School diploma or USA equivalency.
• Two (2) years of experience in repairing commercial type roofs.
• Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills needed for repairing various roofing systems where applicable.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge and skills needed to operate and maintain roofing equipment as required.
• Ability to safely set up ladders scaffolding and hoisting equipment as required.
• Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
• Demonstrated organizational communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
• Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management including work orders and material procurement.
• Maintain a valid Texas Drivers License and a driving record that meets District standards.
• Must pass Dallas ISD random drug test.
• Bilingual is a plus.
