Kitchen Manager will work under the direction and supervision of the school site Business Operations Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations of lunch recess and arrival/dismissal at the school site run safely and smoothly. Furthermore the Kitchen Manager is responsible for ensuring that students maintain culturally appropriate behavior in all operational activities. Essential Functions
Arrange set-up and clean-up for all food items supplies equipment food preparation and serving areas
Maintain cafeteria records and reports as required for the purpose of meeting local state and federal guidelines
Respond to inquiries of students and parents regarding the type and/or cost of meals
Report any unsafe conditions including equipment to administrators immediately
Ensure a safe and effective arrival/dismissal for all students before and after school hours
Utilize appropriate disciplinary procedures and techniques in accordance with the school site discipline plan
Attend staff meetings and in-service training as deemed necessary for the position
Direct supervision of the kitchen associate on a daily basis ensuring policies and processes are being followed and inspecting operational flow on a continuous basis
Responsible for the efficient and effective running of the kitchen ensuring that operating costs are minimized
Schedule and oversee necessary maintenance and repairs on kitchen appliances
Create schedules for Kitchen Associate(s)
Ensure school meets all NSLP compliance standards
Ensure school meets the department of health standards maintaining superior cleanliness and sanitation in all kitchen areas
Provide training and support to Kitchen Associate(s) including menu knowledge and how to meet dietary needs
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Passion for working with children
Previous experience working in the school environment - managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
Ability to learn laws rules practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Public Schools
Flexibility and a willingness to learn
Previous culinary management experience in a full-service restaurant school setting or equivalent
The candidate must have proven culinary skills and must be able to lead develop and motivate staff
Must have understanding of food cost and be capable of conducting and assessing food inventory
Must be proficient with computers and have excellent written and verbal communication skills
$47000 - $50000 a year
