Job Description
My firm is currently recruiting for the Controller role for a high-growth consumer product manufacturing company based in Hagerstown MD. This role has high visibility internally and reports to the CFO. The Controller will supervise an accounting team of 8-9 staff and be responsible for overseeing the monthly financial statements consolidated financials accounting operations cashflow forecasting external audits and financial systems. Hybrid schedule - 1 day in Hagerstown office.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations comprising an overall accounting staff of nine (9) highly trained and motivated individuals of which three (3) are direct reports.
- Oversee the books and records of all twelve (12) entities within the District Cannabis organization including reviewing and approving all journal entries ensuring accuracy and completeness in accordance with GAAP.
- Treasury management responsibilities including bank transfers among entities to ensure adequate funding.
- Bi-weekly review and approval of payroll for >200 team members ensuring timeliness accuracy and completeness.
- Manage the annual external audit process.
- Oversee the adherence to internal controls adding updating and adjusting policies/procedures as needed to ensure effective compliance.
- Perform the monthly intercompany elimination and consolidation process for multiple legal entities
- Provide technical accounting guidance for the Finance and Accounting department as necessary
- Oversee preparation of monthly quarterly and yearly financial statements and supporting schedules as well as ad hoc financial reports.
- Provide analytical support cost-benefit and breakeven analysis for various projects.
Job Qualifications:
- BS-Accounting or equivalent CPA or MS-Acctg preferred
- Must have 3 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Must have 3 years management and supervisory experience
- Position requires 2 years inventory/cost accounting
- Requires 1 day per week in Hagerstown office
