We operate a small college-like campus in Fair Oaks that houses many of our students are seeking an intermediate-level Accountant who thrives in a collaborative environment. The Accountant is responsible for performing hands-on accounting functions in the areas of financial statement preparation accounts payable revenue billing analyzing the companys accounts monitoring the budget and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and standard accounting procedures. Meristem is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; thus experience with non-profit accounting including grant and functional expense allocation is strongly preferred.

Salary: $78000-$81000 annually depending on experience
Job Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
Analyze financial data and prepare monthly account reconciliations
Manage accounts payable debit and credit card functions
Collaborate with other departments to support financial initiatives and budgeted expenses versus actual performance
Assist with accounts receivable billing for tuition donors and grantees
Support/backup the Payroll function in processing payroll reconciling payroll to the general ledger and reviewing benefit-related expenses
Monitor follow and suggest improvements to the organizations internal controls
Prepare review and upload monthly journal entries for the month-end close
Perform other duties as asked for and directed by the Director of Finance
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in accounting
5-10 years of accounting experience including accounts payable accounts receivable reconciliations variance analysis and basic financial statement preparation
Basic knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel
Experience utilizing QuickBooks Online
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to engage with diverse perspectives impartially.

Exceptional communication time management and organizational abilities
Ability to actively engage in research and employ evidence-based assessment methods
Adept at self-reflection and continuous improvement
Interact effectively with young adults on the autism spectrum
