Job Description

General Summary:

The Director of Decision Support is responsible for overseeing the development maintenance and improvement of decision support systems and tools (Strata Jazz Decision Support/Cost Accounting Budgeting/Management Reporting and Productivity modules).

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manages the maintenance of applicable systems and monitors their function to ensure high standards of system performance and availability for users; leads process improvements system updates and enhancements to ensure the same.
  • Conducts in-depth data analysis of financial results identifies trends and insights and prepares comprehensive reports to support decision-making.
  • Assists in the development of service line reporting to support strategic planning budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Provides services to help the organization effectively manage information using process improvements/re-engineering techniques.
  • Collaborates with Accounting and the Financial System Management (Workday) team to support standard (monthly quarterly annual) reports for the Finance department. Maximize effectiveness of standard and advanced reports utilizing appropriate reporting tools.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to understand their data and reporting needs and ensure alignment of decision support efforts.
  • Leads the cost accounting process including updates of costing methodologies and reclassifications.
  • Lead mentor and develop the decision support team ensuring high performance and a collaborative environment. Includes the authority to hire separate promote demote write and administer performance evaluations.
  • Execute ad hoc projects as directed by senior management.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • BS in Finance or Accounting. CPA or other finance/management certification preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in finance and/or financial systems (data analysis decision support and or financial analysis) preferably minimum 5 years in a managerial capacity. Health care experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Extensive knowledge on financial reporting tools system upgrades and process improvements. Strata experience preferred.
  • Excellent critical thinking and presentation skills; proven ability to dissect problems recommend process/systems solutions and develop/ communicate solutions clearly concisely and completely.
  • Solid work ethic and team player; ability to work well independently but also collaborate with and influence a cross section of peers and senior management.
  • Experience facilitating multi-disciplinary teams. Able to motivate and methodically lead a team to problem-solve to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Intellectual curiosity; keen interest in escalating the role of finance via systems and process transformation.
  • Problem solving skills to manage day to day challenges and develop and execute long term strategic goals.
  • Able to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality relating to patient health information (PHI) or Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience using quantitative tools for idea generation and problem-solving. Experience using process mapping methods e.g. flowcharts work-flow critical path analysis (e.g. Excel Visio Word PowerPoint).

$141440.00-$233376.00 Salary

At Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
