A Day in the Life

The Principal Financial Analyst reports to the Director of Global Operations Finance and leads the business partnership and financial support for the Indirect Supply Management (ISM) organization. This role will partner with Category Leaders ISM Leadership and Finance teams across Medtronic to establish metrics drive cost savings and cash flow initiatives and implement financial controls

Key activities include:

Primary business partner for VP of Indirect Supply Management
Monthly/quarterly analysis and support of savings and cost center results
AOP/Forecast oversight for the Indirect Supply Management organization; business partnering with all levels of Supply Management and GO&SC Finance
Savings Cash Flow and Project Planning
  • Provide financial support for global Indirect Supply Management strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives:

    • Lead and analyze cash flow improvement initiatives

    • Create and drive spend management focus and control across large global expense pools

    • Support category management strategies including savings analysis and supplier rationalization projects

  • Analyze and communicate period-end (monthly/quarterly) results:

    • Perform monthly/quarterly analysis of Global Indirect Supply Management KPIs/metrics including communications with GOSC Finance and Supply Management partners

    • Develop and manage financial updates for monthly Global Indirect Supply Management reporting packages including MFRs presentations to Supply Management leadership and CFO reviews

    • Business partner with Indirect Supply Management Global Category Leaders and Supply Management Finance peers across MDT to ensure consistent performance measurement/metrics

    • Provide cost center management and support to ensure achievement of AOP targets forecasts and spend analysis

  • Serve as Finance subject matter expert in ISM savings project reporting and Planisware tracking system

  • Partner with global category leaders to support financial modeling business case development and performance measurement for new sourcing initiatives and CapEx investments

Must Haves

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience

Nice to Haves

  • Exposure to Operations and accounting for Operations
  • Experience with Spend OneStream SAP & Planisware
  • Hyperion Essbase Hyperion Financial Management
  • Solid accounting (GAAP) financial and business management foundation
  • Experience in navigating and working within a matrix organization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$108000.00 - $162000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience certification/education market conditions and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
