Within this position your key tasks will be to:
The Lead Counsel Legal MMP at Equinor US Operations LLC in Stamford CT will draft and negotiate contracts and documentation related to spot and term purchase and sales transactions for crude oil refined petroleum products natural gas liquids and natural gas transactions. Draft and negotiate Brazilian shipping agreements with EBNs (including export cargoes and cabotage) transshipment STS contracts of affreightment towage services purchase and sales agreements. Provide legal support on oil and gas cross-border transactions between Equinor entities in the US and Brazil and advise on legal issues arising from both jurisdictions. Draft and negotiate confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements and joint venture agreements. Advise trading units with regards to transactional matters. Dispute resolution and litigation management. Support other departments with regards to legal concerns including trading desks credit operations risk control business development tax and senior management. Assist in preparing regulatory filings with EPA CFTC FERC DOE USCG and other state regulatory agencies in the US. Advise senior management and commercial staff in connection with federal and state regulatory matters. Prepare formal comments in response to proposed rulemakings from federal and state agencies and provide comparative law review based on the regulatory framework from other countries where Equinor operates. Business development opportunities for the trading units. Implement corporate directives and governing documents. Engage and direct US and Brazilian outside counsel when necessary. Perform roles as local compliance officer including but not limited to conducting compliance and ethics reviews training employees and maintaining the local compliance program. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. 30% international and domestic travel required.

Juris Doctor Master of Laws or foreign equivalent and 7 years of experience as an attorney or related occupation in the oil and gas industry. Must have 2 years of experience with each of the following:
(1) multinational oil and gas project development regulatory trading shipping and transactional work;
(2) Brazilian Governmental regulatory agencies including the laws and regulation governing the Brazilian National Agency for Petroleum Natural Gas and Biofuels;
(3) structuring trading agreements in South American domestic market as well as exports licensing shipping terminalling and storage;
(4) transactional mergers and acquisition in South American markets;
(5) Project Development through the oil and gas value chain. Must also have one year of experience working as an in-house attorney.
