Make an impact at Serco
As a Social Worker within the Psychological Health Services (PHS) team at Acacia Prison you will provide psychological assessment and intervention to inmates for a broad range of presenting issues. There is a specific focus on suicide and self- harm risk assessment and crisis intervention. Psychological Health Services also provide other goal-directed psychological interventions appropriate for a forensic population. This is a full-time permanent position based in Wooroloo WA.
As a Social Worker in the Psychological Health Services team youll make a positive impact by:
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary care team to provide a high level of care for inmates who are experiencing psychological distress and/or functional impairment.
- Completing comprehensive risk assessments and using these to develop appropriate treatment and management plans for people at risk of self-harm.
- Providing individual counselling and/or group therapy to inmates with current psychological needs.
- Preparing accurate and defensible documentation including progress notes formulations and treatment plans.

To be successful in this role youll have:
- Bachelors degree in social work; AND eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Solid understanding of evidence-based practices in the assessment and intervention of different psychological and behavioural presentations
- Demonstrated experience in providing individual counselling preferably within a correctional welfare or similar institutional environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver psychological services and programs.
- Exceptional report writing abilities producing accurate and defensible documentation.
