Support Worker - Housing and Homelessness

About the Role

We currently have multiple Casual Support Worker positions available to work across a number of Housing and Homelessness Services including:

After Hours Support Services (3:30pm - 11:30pm): Wrap-around support service available to people who have been housed following sleeping rough and/or experiencing chronic homelessness to assist with the retention of housing and improvements in quality of life.

Safe Night Space (6:30pm - 7am): Provides a culturally secure night space for women experiencing homelessness family violence and other vulnerabilities. Operates 7 days a week accommodating up to 30 women per night.

Ruah Engagement Hub (8am - 4pm): Located on James Street Northbridge the Ruah Engagement Hub offers a safe space for adults over 20 years who are experiencing homelessness. Drop in services include assertive advocacy crisis accommodation referrals document support case management referrals and rest facilities.

This is a casual position with shift worker rosters for both After Hours and Safe Night Space teams including night shifts weekends and public holiday work.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing one-on-one support across various services with a no wrong door approach.
  • Delivering activity-based and daily living skills support based on care plans and risk assessments.
  • Managing caseloads and maintain client files and records.
  • Monitoring and reporting on service delivery addressing any concerns with the Team Lead.
  • Preparing for and actively participate in supervision.
  • Handling timesheets travel records worker expenses and other administrative tasks.

What were looking for

The successful applicants will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of or progress towards relevant qualification (Certificate II/III) and/or relevant work experience.
  • Ability to engage with individuals within different levels of needs and build and maintain a professional relationship.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the functioning of the team.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Has basic computer skills including ability to effectively use Microsoft Office and Client Database.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diversity gender and social inclusion particularly Aboriginal Culture.
