About this Position

The Destination MT team works to sustain and grow Montanas economy. The programs work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and use communications advertising and promotional campaigns to showcase Montana and create awareness about the state as a place to visit and do business. Through data-driven strategies and grant programs the team aims to preserve and promote the genuine character of Montana and partners to achieve a sustainable economic future for all.

As part of the Destination MT Communications and Outreach Program Team this role will support communications outreach and events for the Office of Tourism. This position will work to ensure the effectiveness of ongoing activities; and coordinates and performs a variety of services in support of the Office of Tourisms communications outreach and event activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead on the Made in Montana (MIM) membership development and program leads
  • Lead and plan the MIM Trade Show
  • Assist in the planning and execution of the Montana Department of Commerces Governors Conference on Tourism
  • And other marketing education and communications duties as indicated or assigned

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelors degree in communications public relations marketing public administration or related field
  • 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in event planning program management
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Experience working with hosting and facilitating meetings budgets utilizing data and community organizing
  • It would pique our interest if the candidate has tourism industry experience

  • Tourism and tourism products
  • Event planning/management and financial planning
  • Program management
  • Excellent organizational skills

Ability to:

  • Manage multiple tasks
  • Adapt to shifting priorities
  • Communicate both written and verbal
