BudgetJob Duties
Responsible for internal annual budget process allocation of revenue to areas of the University based upon need and strategic mission of the University. This responsibility includes estimation of areas revenues and expenses understanding of and research compliance for all end-users and identifies opportunities for improvement in training development and system enhancements to most pervasively meet the needs of the entire institution.
Develop and or enhance budgetary policies procedures and processes.
CBO Business Partner for assigned areas which includes monthly analysis of area forecasts monitoring of compliance with the budget policies and funding source compliance budget funding and process improvement consultation with area management and administration and research of and recommendation for or against additional funding.
Responsible for duties and decision making for the Central Budget Office in the absence of the Budget Director or as designated by the Budget Director.
Monitor State General Fund changes by the Governor and Legislative bodies through-out the year validates them against reports received from the State Budget Division and identifies and resolves any discrepancies or issues.
Annual review of Senate Bill No.28 (Allocation Bill) to ensure it contains all KUMC funds and removal of any funds that have expired. Participate in monthly meetings with KUMCs government relations personnel to share knowledge regarding legislative activity and to coordinate communication with the State Governor and Legislators.
Responsible for the planning and coordination of monthly Financial Leadership Group meetings.
Member of the University multiple position committee providing best practice options and recommendations for the Payroll Accounting and Adaptive Budget processes.
Member of the Universitys General Medical Education Finance committee to provide guidance in budgeting funding and financial reporting.
Member of the University monthly reporting & analysis forum a centralized intake of reporting projects for Workday Adaptive Qlik Cloud and other central systems. This forum is to minimize duplicate efforts set reporting consistencies and assign projects to the appropriate team.
Research and evaluate industry best practices and implement as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting finance business or related field. Education may be substituted for experience on a year for year used to substitute education is in addition to any required work experience.
Work Experience:
5 years experience in financial management or principles of accounting.
Progressive leadership responsibilities as demonstrated by application materials.
Experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
Experience identifying and driving process and system optimization.
Knowledge of principles methods and practices of budgeting and funds/account management as demonstrated by application materials.
Experience delivering insights via data analysis and financial modeling in a complex corporate or university environment.
Knowledge of GAAP as demonstrated by application materials.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Masters Degree.
Work Experience:
Project management experience.
Experience with Workday Adaptive or ERP system and data models.
Experience with system implementations and enhancement.
