Executive Functioning Teacher/Educational Support Specialist
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our team as an Executive Functioning Instructor and Academic Support Specialist. This role includes teaching a dedicated Executive Functioning course to 5th grade students equipping them with essential skills in organization time management and self-advocacy. Additionally the position involves providing individualized academic support and tutoring through our Academic Achievement Center (AAC) for students in grades 5-12.
Reports to: Director of the Academic Achievement Center (AAC)
Work Schedule: Full Time 10 month Exempt contracted position
Essential Functions:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring/academic support to students grades 5-12 in various content areas depending on individual needs of the student.
- Plan and use appropriate student-specific instructional and learning strategies activities materials and equipment.
- Create an environment conducive to student learning.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Use effective communication routinely and effectively with parents of students regarding progress in tutoring.
- Use effective communication routinely and effectively with teachers regarding students being tutored.
- Plan design and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum for 5th grade Executive Functioning course.
- Plan for a well-articulated plan of teaching and assessing.
- Maintain an engaged classroom environment to support student learning.
- Support the Schools Episcopal identity and practices.
- Support the Schools commitment to diversity and multicultural education.
Specific Job Skills:
- Energy empathy flexibility and collaboration.
- A passion for working with young middle school students and a thorough understanding of the specific developmental needs of middle school students.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to support student learning needs and tailor to meet the individual needs of students.
- Manage students effectively teach with excellence and be able to create an engaging learning environment for students.
- Proficient in use of technology
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in related field required
- Teaching experience required
- Special Education or specific executive functioning background preferred
- 3 years experience in the classroom required
Working Conditions
- Expansive school campus with 122 acres must be able to travel between buildings independently.
- Frequent walking standing stooping bending may be required throughout the day at various intervals
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
