The Department of Public Works (DPW) Multimodal Unit isseeking college students interested in transportation planning policy anddesign to fill part-time year-round positions.
This position offers opportunities to collaborate closelywith professional planners and engineers external agency stakeholderscommunity organizations and members of the public to enhance mobility andensure equitable health outcomes.
DPWs Multimodal Unit works to create sustainable vibrantequitable and connected streets and public spaces that provide choice safetycomfort and access for everyone in Milwaukee. We prioritize sustainabletransportation through collaboration and engagement with other departmentsoutside agencies community partners and residents.
This is a part-time internship position (fixed-termappointment) and the maximum number of hours worked per year cannot exceed1019 hours.

Under the general direction of the TransportationEngineering Planner and other Multimodal Unit team members the TransportationOperations Assistant helps implement theCitysComplete Streets Policy Pedestrian Plan Bicycle Plan and Safe Routes toSchool Plan and helps achieve City goals related to safe street designequityhealth andclimate.

The current starting hourly rate (Pay Range 9PN) is$20.54and the resident incentive starting hourly rate for City of Milwaukee residentsis$21.16.
THE SELECTION PROCESSwill be job-related and willconsist of one or more of the following: an evaluation of educationexperience and/or responses to supplemental questions; a written orperformance test a structured interview or other assessment methods. TheDepartment of Employee Relations reserves the right to call only the mostqualified candidates to structured interviews and performance interviews may include written exercises. Selection processcomponent weights will be determined by further analysis of the job.
