ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations The starting hourly pay for this position is $30.82. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range no exceptions. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Work Schedule - This position is scheduled to work four days per week totaling a 40-hour work week.
  • Environment
    • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
    • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
    • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts moving vehicles electrical current working on scaffolding and high places exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals walking and working on slippery and uneven surfaces.
    • The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes odors dusts mists gases or poor ventilation.

THE ROLE
Under general supervision of the Fire Chief or designee performs a variety of tasks including inspecting buildings and property to enforce adopted local and state fire prevention codes and related ordinances; performs final functional tests and inspections on fire protection systems and equipment; advise educate and instruct the general public in proper fire and life safety methods and practices.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the Citys application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
  3. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100% Passing Score 70%).
  4. Selection Interview
  5. Pre-Employment Screening Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening.
  6. Selection/Offers

The selection process may include any combination of written performance and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education experience knowledge skills and abilities. The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal ethical and professional standards.
