Job Description
HEAD CARETAKER cole St. Mary School
Th i s position is open to all internal and external candidates. Prior to employment successful applicants must provide supporting documents as outlined on our New Employees page.
We are looking to hire a continuous 40.0 hour per week Head Caretaker to work at cole St. Mary School in Lethbridge. This assignment is to commence July 2 2025. This position is covered by the CUPE 290 collective agreement.
The Individual
You are a strong advocate for youth and their success in learning. You demonstrate by interest lifestyle and growth involvement within a Christ-centered working environment. Your participation within the Catholic faith is considered to be an asset.
The Head Caretaker is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe and clean environment for their school and its community. The Head Caretaker supervises and trains Caretakers at their assigned school. The Head Caretaker demonstrates a thorough working knowledge of cleaning and general maintenance. The work may require strenuous physical effort to complete all duties alongside Caretakers. The Head Caretaker must be able to complete all work tasks to a high degree of satisfaction.
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma;
- ABSA Class 5 Power Engineer (above or equivalent);
- First Aid certificate;
- WHMIS certificate;
- Hydraulic Ladder Training (Mobile Aerial Work Platform);
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue Training;
- Fall Protection Training;
- Ladder Safety Training.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Caretaker.
TECHNICAL SKILLS (basic knowledge of):
- Effective computer skills (email work orders);
- Commercial cleaning equipment and chemicals;
- Fire extinguisher use.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
- Effective communication skills;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Effective supervisory and leadership skills;
- Strong self-directed initiative;
- Takes charge of assigned tasks;
- Requires minimal supervision.
