Job Description

Minimum qualifications

  • Six years experience in any combination of the following areas:
    • Working in an educational setting (e.g. K-12 higher education) in one of the following capacities (e.g. educational administrator or teacher with experience in development of districtwide/schoolwide curriculum/assessments)
    • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with contractual specifications program requirements timelines for deliverables
    • Interpreting statute and code law (i.e. operating standards Ohio Revised Code Ohio Administrative Code state/federal requirements and guidelines) providing assistance to stakeholders
    • Performing one of the following (i.e. measurements/psychometrics educational policy development assessment/evaluation) in a government and/or educational setting
    • Performing one of the following (i.e. measurement/psychometrics educational policy development assessment/evaluation) in a government and/or educational setting

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelors degree plus 6 years of experience in the areas mentioned above.

-OR-

Masters degree plus 3 years of experience in the areas mentioned above.

  • Experience as a district/building test coordinator in Ohio K-12 system or other educational setting
  • Knowledge of student assessment or educational measurement public education procedures and/or contract oversight
  • Ability to analyze data define problems recommend solutions and handle sensitive information with school personnel vendors and the public
  • Able to use current technology including computers and online testing technology
  • Commitment to excellence professionalism strong interpersonal communication skills good judgment of situations excellent customer service and solution driven
  • Interest in professional growth and development willing to learn policies/procedures/manuals
  • Competency in program improvement in content methods and materials

The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street Columbus Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location full-time if selected.

If this position is filled with an internal employee who has an approved telework agreement the employee may be required to report in-person during the initial training period.

As part of the Office of Assessment develops presents and/or provides resources for the administration of statewide assessments for Ohio utilizing a variety of administration styles:

  • Coordinates and oversees the administration of state assessments
  • Disseminates assessment policies statewide instituted by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and legislature
  • Oversees contracts for content deliverables and compliance to ensure statewide assessment and related materials are formatted reviewed printed and distributed to districts/schools by deliverable dates
  • Provides ongoing planning and communication with contractors regarding the development of administration procedures and the development of scoring and reporting procedures and schedules
  • Monitors contractors to ensure effective development and implementation of the statewide assessments for Ohio
  • Participates in quality control of contractors work on statewide assessments
  • Ensures adherence to established timelines and schedules by operations contractors (e.g. tests in districts by specific dates tests collected from districts/schools tests scored and results delivered to districts/schools by specific dates) in accordance with Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code (ORC and OAC)
  • Reviews test administration manuals user guides reports and other materials for accuracy and appropriateness before they are published or disseminated to the field

Provides technical assistance to school officials teachers parents students and the public regarding the administration of statewide assessments for Ohio in accordance with statute and administrative code (e.g. assists with understanding administration process and results):

  • Interprets and explains testing policies and procedures
  • Ensures current assessment information is available through a variety of sources (e.g. web email newsletters webinars and social media)
  • Reviews changing state and federal laws best practices and educational data and research to recommend procedural and policy changes as needed
  • Facilitates and/or attends and actively participates committee meetings and virtual conferences
  • Develops training materials and presentations and presents information to internal and external groups

Performs other related duties:

  • Attends meetings and conferences prepares correspondence and reports for cross-agency distribution
  • Collaborates with other offices within Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (e.g. Office for Exceptional Children Office of Accountability Office of Graduate Success Office of Nonpublic Education Options) regarding testing
  • Reviews and updates policies manuals and other materials regularly in both digital and paper formats

Performs other duties as assigned.

Unusual Working Conditions: Requires travel throughout State of Ohio and may require overnight stay. (Must be willing and able to secure a valid Drivers License OR supply your own transportation.)
