Job Description

Scope of Position

The Food Runner at Calypsos Pool Bar & Grille is primary responsible for delivering prompt courteous and efficient food and beverage service in a hotel environment with a strong emphasis on attention to detail. The role involves close collaboration with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for all guests.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a food runner server or in a hospitality role is preferred.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely food delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Micros or other POS systems).
  • A food handling certification must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.
  • A TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certificate must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be of minimum legal age to serve alcohol according to state law.

Responsibilities

  • Greet (using names) and acknowledge each guest promptly after seating with hotel greeting standards.
  • Interact with guests in a friendly and upbeat manner providing exceptional customer service and addressing any inquiries they may have about the menu.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff servers and bartenders to ensure seamless and coordinated dining experience for our guests.
  • Know the ingredients preparation and proper presentation of all menu items and specials.
  • Knowledge of restaurant layout and location of all equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure table settings are fully equipped with the appropriate condiments.
  • Ensure special requests and dietary restrictions are accommodated.
  • Handle any additional requests from guests promptly.
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards and maintain a clean and organized workspace with an understanding of proper food handling.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
  • Ability to perform proper chemical handling cleaning techniques and use of equipment/machinery.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be physically fit to lift pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
