Job Description
Saint Josephs College of Maine (SJCME) is seeking to hire a qualified individual as anAssistant or Associate Dean of Studentsdepending on experience and qualifications; especially related to their previous experience with Title IX; to join a dynamic team in the division of Student Life. The position assists the Dean of Students in the strategic leadership of the Division of Student Life. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for providing leadership in the areas of housing student conduct student engagement student government Title IX drafting and reviewing Student Life policies and procedures and divisional budget and assessment activities. The incumbent will also serve as the Title IX Coordinator or the liaison for the College with any necessary external Title IX Support; based on their previous work experience.
The work location is in Standish Maine on the SJCME Campus.
The Title (Assistant or Associate Dean) and Salary will be contingent upon experience and ability and timeline to assume the Title IX Coordinator role.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provides strategic leadership to the Division of Student Life by:
- Assisting in the development and direction of the Division of Student Life
- Advising the Dean of Students of campus regional and national trends in student affairs practice
- Assisting in the development and implementation of policies related to Student Life
- Supporting the administration and interpretation of laws regulations policies and procedures
- Assisting with budget preparation oversight and planning
- Functioning as the divisional leader in the absence of the Dean of Students
- Aiding the coordination of crisis response efforts with divisional colleagues and off-campus partners
- Participating in Administrator-On-Call rotation to guide student and professional staff in incidents during the work day as well as after-hours and on weekends
Provides leadership and supports student success and engagement by:
- Supervising the Director of Residential Living & CommunityStandards and assisting with high level conduct cases
- Providing supervision direction and development of the Office ofStudent Engagement & Leadership Development
- Supervising the Student Life Graduate Assistant
- Providing leadership to 25 student run Clubs and Organizations;including assistance with financial management constructive writingand oversight recruitment of executive boards and other members andcampus programming
- Overseeing and directing the Coordinator of Student Engagementwhose primary responsibilities include New Student Orientationstudent activities and programming and the Campus Activities Board
- Advising Student Government by providing leadership developmentopportunities and advising the senior class (including Senior Weekactivities)
- Supporting the Colleges student retention efforts by representingStudent Life on related committees
Lends critical oversight of day-to-day Student Life operations by:
- Responding to and communicating with parents and families ofstudents regarding questions concerns complaints or requests forinformation
- Managing parental contact and involvement as a strategic interventionrelated to substance abuse
- Supporting divisional staff as they respond to student challenges andconcerns
- Serving as a campus resource with respect to student-related issues
- Leading the Colleges Student Intervention Team and coordinating aresponse to address student needs as indicated
Responsible for overseeing the Title IX policy and processes includingreports of gender discrimination and sexual misconduct and ensuringappropriate and equitable resolution of these reports to those involved by:
- Maintaining and amending policy as needed
- Processing all reported incidents of gender misconduct harassment orviolence according to College policy
- Coordinating interim accommodations for parties experiencing sexualmisconduct violence or discrimination
- Providing annual training to members of the community designated asresponsible employees
- Serving as the College Title IX Coordinator and/or the liaison with anyexternal resources assisting the College with Title IX compliance
- Ensuring that all students are provided opportunities to engage inannual training consistent with Title IX regulations and best practices
- Ensuring that the Colleges policy complies with federal regulationsreflects best practices and is promulgated appropriately
- Maintaining appropriate records tracking data and providing relatedstatistical information to College officials pertaining to reports ofviolence and related misconduct
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of computer programs including Google Platform Excel and Web Access
- Skills in conflict resolution case management and crisis and emergency managementdesired
- Proven training coaching and mentoring abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong critical thinking analyzing and development skills
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills with attention to detail including theability to effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks to completion
- Must demonstrate teamwork skills and a willingness to help others

- Must have a valid drivers license complete a driver training program and have anacceptable Motor Vehicle Record
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree in higher education administration student development counseling or related field
- Four years of experience working in Student Affairs (or equivalent) required; with a progression of increasing responsibility preferred
- Prior supervision experience required
- Prior experience with complaint intake investigations or providing and overseeing supportive measures or accommodations
- Prior Title IX experience preferred
