Job Description

Business Development Representative
In-person in Orem UT
$125000 base OTE of $250000
The Business Development Representative at Nexio is a key driver of growth responsible for expanding our network of customer acquisition partners and ensuring the quality and success of new merchant relationships. This role involves identifying recruiting negotiating and onboarding partners who will bring new merchant customers to Nexio. Partners include 1099 agents industry consultants payment processors banks managed service providers (MSPs) independent software vendors (ISVs) and other approved partner types. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building a strategic mindset and an understanding of merchant quality standards to ensure sustainable high-value partnerships.
Responsibilities
Partner Identification & Recruitment
  • Proactively research identify and approach potential customer acquisition partners who align with Nexios strategic growth goals.
  • Focus on developing relationships with agents consultants service providers ISVs and banks.
  • Conduct thorough partner qualification to ensure alignment with Nexios target market and risk parameters.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of potential partners through various prospecting methods.
Partnership Development & Negotiation
  • Collaborate with prospective partners to negotiate mutually beneficial terms ensuring alignment with Nexios partnership strategy and objectives.
  • Structure partnership agreements that incentivize high-quality merchant referrals.
  • Work with partners to develop go-to-market strategies that align with Nexios growth objectives.
  • Navigate complex decision-making processes across different partner types.
Merchant Quality Management
  • Evaluate and ensure the quality of referred merchants verifying that each meets Nexios standards.
  • Work to ensure partners understand and can identify merchants that contribute to a sustainable low-risk portfolio.
  • Work partnerships in approved complex-risk market segments.
  • Collaborate with Risk and Underwriting teams to maintain quality standards.
  • Monitor and report on merchant quality metrics from partner referrals.
Partner Onboarding & Launch
  • Lead the onboarding process for each new partner providing resources tools and training necessary for a successful launch.
  • Create and deliver partner training programs to ensure understanding of Nexios solutions and ideal merchant profiles.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth partner integration and activation.
  • Track and report on partner onboarding progress and early performance indicators.
  • Coordinate handoff of partners to Partner Management Team.
Market Research & Strategy
  • Continuously monitor industry trends and competitor activities to identify new partnership opportunities.
  • Develop targeted strategies for each partner segment (agents ISVs banks etc.).
  • Provide market intelligence and partner feedback to inform product and service improvements.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments that could impact partner and merchant acquisition.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business Marketing or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years in business development partnerships or a related role ideally within the payments or technology industry.
  • Proven ability to establish negotiate and manage partnerships with diverse partner types.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with a track record of fostering successful partnerships.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to thrive in a goal-oriented fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with assessing merchant quality and understanding risk profiles within the payments industry is a plus.
