Job Description

Are you ready to make a positive impact and empower patient wellness for those dealing with addiction and mental health challenges in a collaborative outpatient setting If so join our team as we are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Research Assistant (RA) to join our close-knit team at Detroit Recovery Project.

Who We Are:

Detroit Recovery Project Inc. (DRP) is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) that provides outpatient recovery support services for those with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We treat the whole person through our integrated programs of primary medical and behavioral healthcare.

Our program philosophy is rooted in developing a healthy recovery ecosystem for those seeking long-term recovery. Through strong therapeutic relationships with our clients helping them to understand the underlying social and emotional issues that drive their substance use the recovery ecosystem focuses on five key areas:

What were looking for:
The Research Assistant at the Detroit Recovery Project is a key team member responsible for supporting the organizations addiction recovery research community engagement initiatives and program development efforts. This role involves data collection analysis and presentation as well as collaboration with community partners to advance our mission of promoting recovery and wellness.
Compensation:The starting pay range for this position is $45000-$47500. This is a salaried-exempt role that is ineligible for overtime compensation.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have an excellent attention to detail and time management ability to prioritize multiple tasks plan work to meet deadlines problem solve and take initiative.
  • Have excellent communication (oral and written) interpersonal skills and highly organized.
  • Be comfortable with standard computer programs (e.g. Word and Excel) and willing to learn new programs (e.g. quantitative qualitative and geographic information analysis software).
  • Be able to be flexible in work schedule (e.g. outside of typical 9am-5pm office hours).
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to travel locally.
  • Work under supervision of the Research Manager and/or other senior staff.
  • Conduct data collection through interviews surveys and other research methods.
  • Organize and manage data sets ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in data analysis using statistical and qualitative methods.
  • Collaborate with community organizations for engagement and outreach.
  • Prepare research findings for presentations and reports.
  • Administer surveys and conduct participant interviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of research activities and interactions.
  • Assist in the development of research protocols and tools.
  • Contribute to the design of community workshops and events.
  • Travel to neighborhoods within Detroit to record data as appropriate to the study (RAs will be trained).
  • Enter data into appropriate databases and/or spreadsheets for analysis.
  • Ensure data completeness and accuracy (e.g. review identify follow-up and correct errors or missing data).
  • Document and maintain list of study records (e.g. dates and locations of field observations).
  • Understand comply and maintain data security and confidentiality protocols and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with safety protocols/procedures during field observations.
  • Report to supervisor (i.e. Research Manager) regularly.
  • Assist supervisor and other senior project staff with job-related duties/tasks.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) R or similar tools).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. psychology sociology public health social work etc.)
  • Some health/behavioral health interest preferred.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to individuals in addiction recovery and familiarity with addiction recovery programs and resources is advantageous.
