DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for performing detailed analysis efforts in the assigned discipline including but not limited to the following tasks:
o Performing intensive technology research & evaluation of a broad array of alternative solutions to improve existing implementations.
o Defining and implementing advanced technological implementations and evaluations to provide risk reduction & determine feasibility of improved and alternate technological implementations.
o Implementing and achieving operational status of advanced technological approaches to satisfy customer needs.
o Formulation of research and development objectives programs and development of plans.
o Conducts applied research on programs utilizing research techniques and professional scientific knowledge.
Remains abreast of all applicable technical advancements and supports the technical consulting to military and private company customers.
Promotes the initiation and development of plans and designs along novel lines of approach.
Interprets and evaluates analytical and experimental data and results of investigations on advanced programs including forecasting the significance of technical results or conclusions on future research.
May undertake technical analysis and coordination formulate opinions and act in a technical advisory capacity.
Responsible for providing detailed cross-functional engineering communication design evaluation and implementations achieving novel and unique functionality and capability through multi-disciplined engineering applications through:
o Participating in multi-discipline design teams and processing action team efforts.
o Preparing and presenting design alternatives to a multidiscipline review peer group.
o Preparing and implementing designs that apply multidiscipline solutions achieving breakthrough performance and unique technological applications.
Responsible for technical interface with present and perspective customers through the following activities:
o Diagnosing existing and perspective customer needs and opportunities through informal and formal interaction to understand present operations and limitations and customer priorities and needs.
o Preparing and presenting detailed technical presentations using information gathered both directly and indirectly to provide customer insight into technological capabilities that could significantly improve operations.
o Ensuring strong technical communication and understanding through use of terms design illustrations and operating paradigms that are common to the customer experience.
Responsible for support and execution of other tasks as assigned by the responsible supervisor.
Complies with all Executive Director approved MERC-wide policies and procedures.
Adheres to approved MERC MSP quality management policies and principles and promotes an attitude of commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Ensures familiarity with all MERC core capabilities and with current and potential customer base.
During all customer contacts remains alert for any potential problems or opportunities that could possibly lead to additional business for any MERC core capability area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
US Citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
A Ph.D. in a relevant mathematics field from an ABET accredited institution; or a Masters degree in same and 1 year of directly related experience; or an undergraduate degree in same and 2 years of directly related experience.

This job operates indoors in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office
equipment such as computers phones photocopiers printers filing cabinets and fax machines.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Requires physical stamina sufficient to sit stand or walk for prolonged periods.
Repetitive movement of hands and fingers typing and/or writing.
Visually or otherwise be able to identify observe and assess documents drawings and models.
Able to see and read PC screens detect color-coding read fine print and/or normal type size print.
Hearing sufficient to conduct in-person and telephone conversations.
Speaking ability in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversational distance on the telephone and addressing groups.
Mental acuity to collect and interpret data evaluate reason define problems establish facts draw valid conclusions and make valid judgments and decisions.
