Cloud Architect
Locations: London Essex Hybrid
The Opportunity
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Cloud Architect to lead the design development and management of our cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with public and private cloud platforms with a strong focus on converting and migrating workloads from public to private cloud environments. This role involves architectural planning platform evaluation and implementation to ensure a secure scalable and cost-efficient architecture that aligns with business goals.
What You Will Get To Do:
- Translate Business Needs into Technical Designs:Collaborate closely with Product Owners architects engineers and other stakeholders to understand complex requirements and translate them into detailed architectural diagrams documentation and implementation roadmaps ready for engineers to implement.
- Design and Architect Secure Cloud Solutions:Architect and document secure scalable and highly available systems across public private and hybrid cloud environments.
- Champion Security and Compliance:Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud security ensuring all architectural designs adhere to strict regulatory and compliance frameworks includingNIST SOC 2 and CSA / CAIQ. Actively collaborate with security and compliance teams to embed governance into the architecture.
- Lead Strategic Cloud Initiatives:Steer key architectural decisions and lead strategic projects such as the migration of workloads from public to private cloud platform evaluation and the adoption of new cloud services.
- Develop and Enforce Architectural Standards:Establish and govern cloud architecture best practices patterns and policies to ensure consistency security and operational excellence across the organisation.
- Provide Technical Leadership and Guidance:Mentor and guide engineering teams during the implementation phase ensuring designs are built as specified and providing clarity on architectural principles.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or a related field or equivalent experience.
- 6 years of experience in a technical role with at least 2 years focused on cloud architecture.
- Demonstrable experience designing cloud native and cloud-enabled solutions within regulated environments (e.g. Financial Services Healthcare).
- Proven experience creating detailed design documentation including architectural diagrams data flow models and technical specifications ready for engineering teams to implement.
- Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration (e.g.Docker Kubernetes OpenShift).
- Deep expertise in at least one major public cloud platform (AWS Azure or GCP) - preferablyAWS.
- Solid foundation in core infrastructure concepts: networking (VPCs firewalls routing) security (IAM encryption key management) storage and virtualisation.
Preferred:
- In-depth knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO27001/17/18 NIST SOC 2 and CSA / CAIQ.
- Professional cloud certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools likeTerraformor CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience architecting and managing on-premise private cloud platforms (e.g. VMware OpenShift).
- Specific experience in the FinTech industry.
