-Prototype Fabrication: Manufacture prototype parts using manual milling machines lathes grinders and other equipment.
-Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints CAD models and other technical documents to determine the specifications for the prototype.
-Machine Setup: Set up machines including tool selection fixture setup and part alignment to ensure accuracy and precision in machining.
-Quality Assurance: Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers calipers and CMMs to ensure compliance with design specifications.
-Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers and product developers to refine designs suggest improvements and troubleshoot any issues during the prototyping process.
-Material Selection: Select appropriate materials for machining based on design requirements including metals plastics and composites.
-Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
-Documentation: Maintain accurate records of machining processes tool changes and any modifications made during the prototyping phase.
-Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a machinist preferably in a prototype or R&D environment.
- Proficiency in operating manual machines. Strong understanding of machining processes tooling and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints CAD drawings and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- High level of precision and attention to detail in all aspects of machining and quality control.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a machinist apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy materials stand for long periods and work in a noisy environment.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and basic computer operation for programming and documentation purposes.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Schedule: Tuesday through Friday from 6:00am to 4:30pm
Pay
The pay for this position is $28.00 to $31.00 an hour. This posting is expected to close on July 28th 2025.
