Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer with a strong emphasis on building fabric maintenance and plumbing systems. This hands-on role is ideal for a proactive professional who can undertake both planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive repair tasks across fabric and general building services systems including plumbing across multiple sites across North and South London. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical knowledge practical skills and collaborative spirit to maintain the safety functionality and appearance of our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Building Fabric Maintenance
- Inspect maintain and repair fabric elements such as walls ceilings floors doors windows and roofs.
- Carry out tasks including painting plastering joinery minor masonry glazing sealing and general cosmetic and structural fixes.
- Use hand and power tools efficiently to complete repairs and upgrades in line with health and safety standards.
- Plumbing & General Building Services
- Undertake plumbing repairs and installations including pipework fittings sanitary ware and leak investigations.
- Support minor mechanical and electrical tasks where required.
- Receive and complete PPM and reactive tasks from internal systems (e.g. Infraspeak) ensuring proper materials and equipment are used.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and safety standards especially when working around specialist or sensitive environments.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Liaise effectively with the site team contractors and clients to coordinate works resolve issues and plan tasks.
- Report progress or concerns to supervisors.
- Ensure the safe use and care of all tools equipment and materials.
- Perform general site maintenance tasks and uphold the cleanliness safety and order of the working environment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential:
- Relevant trade qualification in plumbing (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).
- Proven experience in fabric maintenance and general building services.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety practices and regulations.
- Desirable:
- Training or certification in carpentry masonry or multi-trade disciplines.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and a conscientious approach to quality.
- Able to manage workload independently and respond quickly to urgent repairs.
- Good interpersonal skills and professionalism when engaging with clients contractors and team members.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and working conditions including occasional lone working or adverse environments.
