Job Description
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
This position is responsible for delivering consumables including chemical materials such as solvents and pigments lab supplies and sundries from the shipping dock to an appropriate location within a laboratory or storage room. This position is also responsible for stocking and organizing lab supply rooms keeping accurate inventory and maintaining appropriate shipping paperwork.
Key Duties:
- Verifying the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming deliveries
- Ensuring proper labeling of incoming items and internal re-containerization of products.
- Identifying and locating the right products during the delivery process
- Recording the location and date of delivery
- Keeping track of delivery paperwork and submitting them to the appropriate person
- Collaborating with internal departments to locate missing packages fix incorrect deliveries and replace damaged products
- Operate various powered material handling equipment including forklift and powered pallet jacks and manual material handling equipment including pallet jacks drum movers carts etc. in a safe manner at all times
- Monitoring stock levels in lab supply areas and re-stock as necessary
- Recycling of metal substrates throughout the campus labs
- Communicating with buyer when inventory is low
- Reviews and/or completes a variety of documents forms and the proper packaging of materials to initiate or complete the shipping receiving or transportation process for supported operations for domestic and international shipments via ground air and LTL carriers
- Perform documented weekly waste inspections to ensure full compliance with all hazardous industrial and universal waste rules including the proper preparation tracking and recordkeeping of outbound waste shipments
- Monitor waste collection volumes and change out full drums gaylords and totes of waste and replace with properly labeled waste collection containers
- Supports material movements and warehouse operations for labs groups and facility services
- Support site safety programs implement new procedures recommend safety improvements and assure safety compliance to create and maintain a safe work environment for employees
- Promotes and maintains a positive employee relation and a total quality working environment with internal and external customers
- Maintain housekeeping standards for shipping receiving and warehouse operations
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. - High School Graduate
Preferred:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in similar role
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Physically fit with the ability to lift objects weighing between 50-100 pounds
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Team Player
Preferred:
- Certification of forklift operation.
