Position Description

Job Title: Director of Advancement

FLSA: Non- Exempt

Job Status: Part-Time

Reporting Functions: Reports to Principal


Job Function: Directs fundraising marketing and advancement programs for St. Jane Frances de Chantal School. This includes but is not limited to the annual appeal annual auction and elementary school bonding programs as well as managing alumni relations and overseeing the schools endowment fund.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create an advancement program that will include the re-branding of St. Jane Frances de Chantal. Establish an advertising campaign for promotion of the school.

  • Create new marketing materials that can be used in conjunction with the school website; generate all school promotional materials including school website materials; keep website current for Advancement/Alumni sections.

  • Utilize the school website to create an on-line giving program

  • Promote social media engagement (i.e. Facebook Twitter etc.) around the school for both alumni and current parents. Monitor for messages containing negative or inappropriate language.

  • Create and maintain a donor database.

  • Create and maintain an alumni database to be utilized for annual giving efforts.

  • Provide public relations and keep the media informed of school news including student accomplishments special programs alumni functions and other events.

  • Create and oversee a Planned Giving program; oversee Grant Writing.

  • Oversee the scholarship program for the school.

  • Create and oversee a tracking system for prospective students; conduct follow-ups.

  • Conduct tours and Open houses at the school for prospective students and parents.

  • Act as a liaison to the Esthetic Committee.

  • Create a program that improves teacher communication concerning the marketing of the school.

  • Maintain contact with the Diocese of Allentown Office of Stewardship and Development.

  • Keep abreast of the latest in advancement techniques and utilize the same in growing fundraising opportunities.

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal.


Additional Condition of Employment:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in public relations communications or a related field.

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is a plus.

  • Experience in marketing/ development field preferably in a school environment and in a supervisory or Management capacity.


Other Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques.

  • Proficiency in word processing database management as well as other business and office equipment.

  • Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact amid donors and diverse groups.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Must exhibit a high degree of integrity loyalty dependability and have a strong work ethic. Position continually requires demonstrated poise tact and diplomacy.

  • Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.

  • Must be able to work independently and proficiently.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop bend push pull talk and listen both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard office equipment with occasional reaching with hands and arms is required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people.


Working Conditions: Elementary School office environment. During the school year and the 2-weeks before and after the school year begins and ends schedule is Monday Wednesday and Friday following school hours (7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.) and calendar; summer work schedule will be part-time. May be required to work in excess of normal work hours to attend meetings.
