Position Summary:
The Camden Early College High School principal serves as the chief administrator of the school. As the chief administrator the Camden Early College High School principal is expected to provide instructional leadership to school staff and to work cooperatively with all stakeholders in order to provide the educational development of each student as well as the professional growth of each staff member. The principal ensures an academic environment that blends high school and college coursework fosters a college-going culture and meets the unique needs of a diverse student body. The principal will partner with higher education institutions community stakeholders faculty staff students and families to deliver a high-quality educational experience in alignment with district state and Early College High School program goals To that end the Camden Early College High School principal supervises and directs all personnel facilities and programs in the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead manage and support the daily operations and instructional programs of the Early College High School.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement innovation and student success.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with the collaborating college/university to ensure seamless dual enrollment curriculum alignment and student support.
- Promote a safe and supportive environment for students and staff that prioritizes equity and inclusivity.
- Supervise evaluate and support faculty and staff to ensure effective teaching and learning.
- Oversee student recruitment admissions and retention strategies to meet program goals.
- Supervise in a fair and consistent manner effective discipline and attendance systems with high standards consistent with the philosophy values and the mission of the school.
- Ensure a safe orderly environment that encourages students to take responsibility for behavior and create high morale among staff and students.
- Implement and monitor data-driven instructional practices utilizing assessment data to enhance outcomes.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with students families and the broader community.
- Ensure compliance with all district state and federal regulations and guidelines.
- Manage budgets and resources in collaboration with district leadership.
- Provide leadership in professional development and staff growth aligned with program and district priorities.
- Advocate for Early College High School programs and serve as a liaison to stakeholders and partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of cognitive affective social and physical development of students.
- Knowledge of federal state and local policies and procedures regarding the learning process in grades 9-12.
- Knowledge of the evaluation process of staff and the ability to provide appropriate counseling for improvement as needed.
- Knowledge of North Carolinas accountability model.
- Knowledge of school board policies procedures and standards regarding the education of students in Camden County Schools.
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines applicable to the position as outlined by professional organizations and/or federal state and local laws rules and regulations.
- Ability to assess the needs of students and the school atmosphere.
- Ability to plan develop implement and evaluate educational programs within the school.
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing school programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ability to use standard office machines and computer-driven word processing spreadsheet and file maintenance programs.
- Ability to effectively express ideas orally and in writing.
- Ability to make oral presentations before large groups of people.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Educational Leadership Administration or related field (required).
- Valid North Carolina Principals License (required).
- 3-5 years of successful leadership experience at the secondary level preferred.
- Knowledge of early college high school or dual enrollment models preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong partnerships with higher education institutions and community stakeholders preferred.
- Strong communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to equity access and excellence in education for all students.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced school environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Work is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force.
- May require travel between the high school and the partnering college/university.
Work Environment:
- Primarily based in a school setting with interactions in college/university settings as needed.
