Job Description

Salary/Position Classification

  • $52000 - $55000 Dependent on Experience 9-month contract Exempt
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

The mission of the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to provide excellent and collaborative education scholarship and service to advance human well-being for all with an emphasis on rural and underserved populations.

The CNPD is comprised of three departments: Nursing Nutrition & Dietetics and Social Work.

The department of Social Work is seeking a full-time (9-month) faculty member to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (including advising) and contribute to the mission of the department university and profession through service activities. This individual will contribute to a productive and collegial academic team and will develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students.

UND Social Work faculty teach in both our campus-based and online distance programs (BSSW and Advanced Generalist MSW). We are committed to providing educational access to non-traditional students especially those interested in serving rural areas and Native American communities. In our rural state our department has strong partnerships with the state Division of Children and Family Services and houses its training arm the Children and Family Services Training Center. Our department is also strongly committed to partnerships with our states Tribal position requires an in-person on-campus presence.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 95% - Teaching Teaching will be dependent on departmental needs. A sample of classes would include (but not be limited to) Advanced Generalist Practice with Families Child Welfare Advanced Generalist Field Seminar and Independent Study. Teaching activities will also include field assignments with both supervision and liaison duties.
  • 5% - Service Service activities will be determined in consultation with the department chair and will be consistent with department college and university expectations and policies/procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • MSW from a CSWE accredited Social Work program
  • Current licensure or license eligible in North Dakota
  • 2 years of full-time post-MSW social work practice experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching experience or training
  • Clinical practice experience
  • Practice experience with Tribal Communities
  • Experience with social work field education (field instruction field coordination field liaison)
  • ND SWK license at the LCSW level
