We Require
Six months of experience registering patients in an electronic medical records system in a medical setting
High school diploma or GED
Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Certification as a Public Health or Community Health Worker from an accredited college or currently enrolled in a Public Health or Community Health Worker program and eligible to receive a certification within six months of hire
Experience gathering data from patients and creating medical records
Cashiering or cash handling experience
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
Job Contributions
Obtains and enters client demographic information into various computer programs
Ensures all forms are correctly completed and signed by the client
Serves as a cashier at registration by assessing fees and recording transactions
Files scans and assembles medical records including dictated and miscellaneous documents according to departmental procedure
Releases patient information following applicable laws and department policies
Performs receptionist duties including greeting assisting customers and answering a multi-line phone
Receives payments by cash check credit cards or automatic debits
Issues receipts refunds credits and provides change
Counts money and balances cash drawers at the end of the shift
Responds to requests by researching locating retrieving and delivering records or information
Purges inactive records according to retention schedules
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors in an office setting interacting with a diverse population within a team environment
Ability to lift 10 pounds floor to the waist the waist to the shoulder or the shoulder to overhead
Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
A valid Arizona drivers license is required upon hire
Within one month of hire all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles mumps rubella) Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria) Varicella (chickenpox) and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
Required to get a level one fingerprint clearance through AZPDS upon hire
