Job Summary

The Volunteer Services Assistant supports the recruitment onboarding engagement and retention of hospital volunteers who enhance the patient and visitor experience. This role is responsible for coordinating onboarding activities maintaining accurate records and assisting with volunteer recognition and engagement efforts as well as supporting the management of community donations.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists DVS by coordinating and leading adult volunteer orientations conducting interviews with potential new volunteers and assisting volunteers. (10%)
  • Assists in providing information for volunteer services programs including Pet Therapy and Volunteer Drive Program. (10%)
  • Assist DVS in managing Volunteer Services events and community groups. (10%)
  • Maintains position descriptions for volunteer assignments and arranges for annual review. (10%)
  • Set up appointments with COSH for immunizations. (10%)
  • Submit immunization paperwork for volunteers to COSH. (10%)
  • Balance and make deposits to cashiers office. (10%)
  • Physically assist patients to and from appointments as needed. (10%)
  • Accepting donations and sorting for proper locations. (10%)
  • Assist the patient information desk as needed through the campus. (5%)
  • Archives departmental reports and records for administrative and regulatory purposes. (5%)


Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.


Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years customer service experience working in customer-oriented administrative settings required.


Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Professional attitude and ability to handle personnel issues with tact and good judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to meet deadlines have excellent communication and customer service skills and have analytical trouble shooting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of:

    Microsoft Excel

    Epic

    Volunteer Database
