Job Description
Newlyn School are looking for a warm and positive Early Years Teacher to join our team who has a calm and nurturing yet aspirational mindset. The appointed candidate will be flexible and willing to engage with all team members having the hearts of our wonderful learners at the centre of everything we do. As the Early Years Teacher you will be based in our vibrant Reception class playing a key role in shaping the early learning journey of our children. You will work in close partnership with the Nursery Manager to design and deliver a cohesive high-quality Early Years curriculum that spans from age 2 to 5. We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher with a strength in pedagogical understanding of high quality teaching and learning opportunities.
This is a unique opportunity to lead on curriculum continuity pedagogy and transition across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ensuring that every child experiences a nurturing engaging and developmentally appropriate education that is inspirational. You will model outstanding classroom practice support colleagues across the early years team and contribute to the strategic development of our early years provision.

We are looking for someone who has a deep understanding of child development in the Early Years and can design and deliver purposeful play-based learning experiences to ensure that masterful learning is at the core of each learning opportunity. Experience with supporting children with additional needs is essential demonstrating a flair for adapting provision dynamically to meet the personalised needs of all children with the support of a wonderful staff team. We are looking for a team member who values collaboration and works effectively with staff families and external agencies with a dream to make a difference to the lives of the children in their class and community.
At Newlyn School it is desirable to have experience in leading or managing an Early Years team with knowledge of the EYFS framework and relevant assessment practices. We fundamentally believe in the benefits that outdoor learning can have and someone with a qualification or interest in Forest/Beach School or outdoor learning is essential as well as having a nurturing yet aspirational approach that champions emotional wellbeing and resilience.
