The Opportunity and Job Description

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School (DRS) is seeking to hire a Physical Education/Health Education Instructor for the 2025-2026 school year. Instructor responsibilities include:

  • Direct teaching of assigned students.
  • Administer and analyze formative assessments to monitor student progress and plan instructional shifts to increase achievement and success for all students.
  • Design appropriate curriculum instructional and assessment accommodations to support academic success for a diverse group of students including both struggling and advanced learners.
  • Incorporate effective and innovative uses of technology to support teaching learning and collaboration.
  • Maintain regular parent communication (electronically face-to-face and conferences).
  • Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision in the physical education setting to ensure student have safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development in relation to movement competency and wellness.
  • Commit to continuous professional learning and ongoing reflection on effectiveness of teaching practice and implemented curricula for all students.

Expected Salary:

Commensurate with education & experience.

Minimum Requirements:

1. A Masters degree; candidates with Bachelors degree will be considered but will be required to obtain a Masters degree within three years of hire.

2. Florida Temporary or Professional teaching certification in K-12 Physical Education AND one or more of the following:

  • Health K-12
  • Biology 6-12
  • Health Science

Candidates without one of the listed Health Education certifications will be required to obtain certification in Health K-12 Biology 6-12 or Health Science Education within one year of hire.

3. Excellent oral and written communication skills

4. FDLE Background check

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of K-12 teaching experience
