The Yukon Government is seeking a dedicated and innovative Lead Literacy Specialist Teacher to support the development of high-quality literacy instruction across our classrooms. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers administrators and curriculum staff to enhance student learning and achievement in literacy for grades K-12 students.
This position is ideal for an experienced educator who is passionate about literacy and driving instructional improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in mathematics education or numeracy
- Possession of a Masters Degree or post-graduate coursework in mathematics education numeracy or related fields is an asset
- Certification or training in recognized numeracy intervention programs considered an asset
- Minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience with a focus on numeracy or mathematics at the primary or intermediate levels
- Experience working in collaborative and professional learning environments
- Experience implementing diverse numeracy interventions and differentiated instruction strategies
- Experience coaching educators in numeracy instruction and data-informed practices
- Bilingual in English and French is considered an asset
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with teachers administrators and curriculum staff
- Demonstrated leadership in numeracy teaching coaching and support
- Ability to analyze and apply student learning data to support instructional planning and improvement
- Skilled in designing and delivering professional development (e.g. workshops in-services) related to numeracy
- Commitment to inclusive education and equity in student learning outcomes
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Yukon First Nations cultures and the needs of culturally-diverse learners
- A flexible team-oriented approach to problem-solving and collaboration
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
