POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Manager for Coach 2 is responsible for providing supervision and support to the Coaches clients and participants involved with Coach. The will oversee the Coach role in the behavioral management support in the classroom and community family support recreational programming and other community components of the Coach 2 Program. They will be required to understand the supportive and mandated role of The Link: Youth and Family Supports in partnership with the Winnipeg School Division Province of Manitoba and Child and Family Services as per the aligned goals and outcomes of the Coach Program.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities of the Program Manager for Coach 2 include but are not limited to:

  • Participates as a member of the Coach team in planning and implementing the time-limited goal-oriented plans for the students and family
  • Implements behavioral and family support components of the wrap-around program
  • Employs a strength-based and culturally proficient approach
  • In cooperation with the Winnipeg School Division - school principal classroom teachers Special Education Resource Teachers clinicians and other educational partners to reinforce the educational social-emotional behavioral and sensory goals and programming for the students in the classroom at Mulvey School and in the Winnipeg School Division
  • In conjunction with the teachers Special Education Resource Teachers school psychologist school social worker school speech and language pathologists occupational therapist and school principal - develop assessments that consider all aspects of the students needs and communicates these throughout the Coach team
  • Models socially appropriate behavior and provide opportunities for social skill development and cultural and community networking as well as a consistent team-based approach
  • Collaborates plans develops and directs out-of-school individual and group activities
  • As part of the school team collaborate to provide support to student and family when student is transitioned to the home school or to middle high school from the Coach program
  • Provides support to and collaborate with WSD personnel and Coaches to assist in identifying interventions which are clearly related to the strengths and needs of the family
  • Coordination of student transportation needs by Coaches
  • Communicates regularly with the Coordinator and the Principal of the School
  • Employs crisis intervention strategies in conjunction with other team members and service providers
  • Demonstrated leadership through coaching training performance management of staff. Directing and planning team meetings and engagement activities
  • Management and delegation of receipts petty cash and fiscal budget management
  • Prepares the schedule for Coaches students and family connections
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined by The Link: Youth and Family Supports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education in an applicable Human Services field
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent organizational time management and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with students and families
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of strengths based philosophy and practices
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Traditions as well as cross cultural knowledge training and/or experience
  • Knowledge of systems for children in care school family functioning and child welfare
  • Proficient use of Microsoft 365 applications
  • First Aid and CPR Level C or willingness to obtain;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search a clear Child Abuse Registry check with acceptable Prior Contact checks and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check all done within the last 3 months;
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes - mileage reimbursement available
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable drivers abstract (subject to approval)
  • Willingness to obtain necessary training as per the organizations training policy

Preferred or willing to obtain within the first 3 (three) months

  • ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and/or any de-escalation training preferred;
  • Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk;
  • The Link Commit 2 Kids Training;
  • Certification in either DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions).

SALARY:$55000 annually

HOURS OF WORK:Full-Time 80 hours biweekly - 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Varied shifts - weekdays some evenings some weekends
