This position allows for a hybrid work schedule from a remote location within the State of Montana. Weekly travel to Helena offices will be required. Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere to state policy. New Employees may be required to complete training in person before hybrid work schedules begin.

The Research and Information Services (RIS) Bureau within the Montana Department of Commerce partners with people agencies and organizations throughout the state nation and globe to promote economic opportunity and enhance our understanding of the people and economy of the State of Montana. Job Overview
The Tourism Data Manager primarily works with the marketing team at the Montana Department of Commerce to maximize the teams efficiency and effectiveness in the competitive destination marketing landscape. This position oversees data partnerships coordinates projects that involve outside research and data agencies and performs data analysis focused on marketing strategies and the economic impacts of visitation to Montana. The analysis conducted in this role utilizes a variety of unique and exciting data sources such as ITRRs Montana nonresident travel data and reports aggregated mobile device location and movement aggregated card spending hotel and short-term lodging performance and others.
Typical duties include:
Managing and transforming data from owned and purchased data sources.
Presenting and visualizing data in a consumable format (ex. reports presentations interactive data displays etc.).
Identifying gaps and weaknesses in marketing program strategy data sources planning and execution.
Setting baseline metrics and developing methods for measuring impact of marketing programs and economic development programs related to tourism (e.g. grant programs).
Providing recommendations that support and inform marketing strategy and planning processes.
Project management
The audience for these products includes Department of Commerce leadership and staff the Departments agencies-of-record marketing and research partners across Montana and the public.
Other duties may include assisting RIS with economic and demographic analysis as needed.
